An Experienced Georgia Contractor

Our team at Unique Concrete Concepts adheres to industry "best practices" to ensure each project comes out with the high quality you'd expect. Owner Tim Robertson has over 25 years in the Atlanta concrete industry and personally oversees all of our projects. This means that each and every team member follows the same procedures that Tim does. This ensures a quality finish for you, our valued customer.

For example, we takes steps to make sure the joints are properly placed which can reduce unwanted cracking and increase the service life of patios, walkways and driveways. We also work to ensure the strength of the cement is within the expected guidelines for concrete construction. Of course, as with any industry each case is different but most projects will involve a minimum standard to create a quality driveway, walkway or patio for you.

At Unique Concrete Concepts, we also take into account the weather. Not just rain or sun, but actual temperature. In colder climate conditions, the concrete needs to be protected from freezing for at least a few days after placement. That's why we cover it with an insulated heating blanket. In very hot conditions, we may use a surface applied sealer to ensure there is enough moisture in the concrete while it builds strength. These measures will not be needed year round but we believe in doing what's right when the weather is extreme to protect your investment.

What About Cracked Concrete?

Summer is fading fast, and soon Fall will be here. Time to plant shrubs, sod and get ready for the approach of old man winter. You'll want everything in tip-top shape for when family and friends come to visit for the holidays. This includes the concrete around your home. Is your patio and driveway free of unsightly cracks? If you have smaller cracks, it is likely nothing to be concerned about. But don't wait too long to get larger concrete cracks repaired as they can separate further if left untouched which will cause a bigger problem down the road.

Foundations, garage floors, patios, driveways and walkways all experience cracks. And this usually happens just at the end of the winter season. Here in the southeast, we experience snow and ice which can cause freezing in concrete. If something hard hits concrete when it's covered in ice, it can cause heavy damage much like it does on our roadways.

Conditions that normally cause cracks, are uneven distribution of moisture in the concrete or when the soil settles. If this happens in a concrete foundation it is important to get it looked at right away by an expert contractor. When this happens to a patio or driveway, it is often little to worry about if the cracks are small or appear in joints. However, if the cracks are big and the patio is severely damaged you may need to have a local contractor replace the old concrete with a new slab.
